Using PowerPoint to make a presentation for your class, seminar, or business meeting can be quite a daunting task if you are not much used to it or running short of time-- PowerPoint demands some basic skills and time to create.

Or what if you’ve already a Word document saved with all the details required for the PowerPoint presentation you want to create.

Though you can click on the Send To option from your Ms Word document and choose Microsoft PowerPoint option to instantly covert Word into PowerPoint but again you’ll have to organize the content, do a little modification here and there, highlight some words, make bold letters etc.

To make it easier and fast, we have here explained how to write a simple outline document and then convert it to PowerPoint slides in a few simple steps.

For our purpose, we have taken the Word document in the Outline view format. Let’s begin:

  • Choose Outline from View menu bar of your Word document.
  • Write a main point you want to see as the title of your first PowerPoint slide. Select this and change its style from Normal to Heading format from the Formatting Toolbar. If you are using an existing document, change the style of the main point in the same way. Repeat the process for each main point to be displayed as the title of a new slide.
  • Keep in mind that you should not skip lines and use any bullet points or any other kind of formatting. After the title part, just change the style from Normal to Heading1, Heading 2, Heading 3 and so on for the succeeding sub-points. They will be automatically represented as bullet points on the PowerPoint slides.
  • Once done with the points and contents, choose Send To option from File menu. Click on Microsoft PowerPoint to convert your Word document to a PowerPoint slide show.
